The dormitory is our shared home. To evolve our living environment into a space that integrates learning, social interaction, and creative functionality, Our school is participating in the Ministry of Education’s ” the New Dormitory Plan ” (https://www.dormtw.com/) to renovate our public spaces. Following a rigorous permit review process, the project has now entered the bidding stage. Based on the progress, construction is expected to begin in September of this year (2026). To ensure that students applying for housing in the next (115) academic year are fully informed of the construction’s potential impact on daily life, we are providing the following tentative planning overview. Please note that final details will be officially announced once the contract is awarded and confirmed.
⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDER: The following information represents the current planning stage. Final details are subject to change based on the official contract award.
I. Estimated Construction Timeline & Working Hours
- Duration: Estimated from September 2026 to December 2028.
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 18:00 (Major works).
- Weekends (General Principle): No construction is planned for weekends. Any exceptional requirements must be approved by the University in advance and will be restricted to low-noise tasks to protect students’ rest time.
II. Construction Scope
- 1st Floor: Lounges, Dining Area (excluding kitchen), Front Desk, Package Room, Elevator Lobby, Management Center, Barrier-free dormitory, Storage, and Outdoor Plaza.(Attached Map1)
- 2nd – 18th Floors: Social room, Study Rooms, Laundry Rooms, Kitchenettes, Storage, Elevator Lobbies, Balconies, Corridors。(Attached Map2)
III. Proposed Construction & Logistics Plan
- Phased Execution: Work is planned to begin on the 2nd–18th floors, followed by the 1st floor and outdoor areas.
- Floor-by-Floor Rotation:
- To balance student housing needs with construction progress, work on the 2nd–18th floors will be conducted in units of three floors at a time, proceeding downward from the top floor (18th).
- To prioritize student safety and quality of life, floors undergoing construction will be temporarily closed. Once a phase is completed, these floors will be reopened for students relocating from the next scheduled work areas. Additionally, certain rooms adjacent to elevators or social rooms—which are more susceptible to noise—will be phased out and integrated into shared public spaces for communal use (see Attachment 1 for specific room numbers). These measures are expected to temporarily take approximately 700 beds offline.
- Announcements will be made prior to the start of each phase.
- Elevator Usage: For material transport and debris removal, one elevator in each wing (Male/Female Dorm 2, non-accessible elevators) will be designated for construction use. Usage protocols will be carefully reviewed to prioritize student needs and safety.
- Low-Impact Methods: Priority will be given to “Off-site Prefabrication & On-site Assembly” and “Dry Construction” methods to minimize dust and noise.
- Security Management: All construction personnel must be registered with their real names, wear identification vests, and use strictly controlled/limited-access key cards. Security patrols will be increased to ensure strict safety control. Change brings challenges, but it also opens the door to transformation. We deeply appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we navigate these temporary inconveniences together.
