Creating Gender-Inclusive Housing

Gender equality is a universal value closely connected to our daily lives. NTNU supports and actively promotes a gender-inclusive campus environment. In 2020, the university became the first in Taiwan to establish a gender-friendly dormitory.
This designated Gender-Friendly Dormitory Section provides clear and accessible information for students of diverse gender identities seeking housing, thereby improving the accessibility of gender-related dormitory resources.

Gender Equality

Also referred to as gender parity, gender equity, or equality between men and women, gender equality emphasizes that individuals of all genders should enjoy equal rights in all aspects of life—political, economic, social, personal, and familial. It opposes gender discrimination.
Gender equality is one of the goals of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, aiming to create a legal and social environment where everyone is treated equally—ensuring, for instance, democratic participation and equal pay for equal work.

NTNU student dormitories provide gender-friendly housing, encouraging residents to respect diversity and engage in mutual learning to foster an inclusive environment.

For transgender students, dormitory placements are not solely based on biological sex but are arranged on a case-by-case basis.
