Winter Break Housing Application Q&A
1. Eligibility Criteria:Applicants must be currently enrolled students of the university. Your official student enrollment status must be "Active" (In School) at the time of application.
2. Application Methods and Deadlines:
(1) Regular Application: Please log in to the Student Housing Application System and submit your online application within the designated timeframe.
(2) Late Application and Waitlisting: Online housing applications must be completed within the announced timeframe. Late applicants will be demoted to the end of the 3rd priority rank. The final room assignment results will be announced on the website. If any student withdraws or if a bed space becomes vacant, vacancies will be allocated to waitlisted students sequentially based on their original categories (undergraduate or graduate).
The housing priority ranks for the regular academic year, summer housing, and winter housing are identical:
For both undergraduate students (from lower to higher class years) and graduate students (master’s and doctoral), dormitories will be allocated based on the priority ranks listed below via a computerized random lottery.
Priority 1:
• (1) Economically Disadvantaged Students: Students who hold a low-income or mid-low-income certificate issued by a county or municipal government, or those who received Level 1 financial aid under the Ministry of Education’s Financial Aid Program for Disadvantaged Students in the previous academic year.
(2) Students with Disabilities: Students holding valid proof of physical or mental disability.
• (3) Incoming International and Overseas Chinese Students: International students and Overseas Chinese students enrolled in undergraduate years 1 to 4, or the 1st year of a postgraduate program (Master's/Ph.D.).
(4) Offshore Island Students: Students whose household registration has been officially established in areas outside mainland Taiwan (offshore islands) for more than one year.
(5) Indigenous Students: Indigenous students whose household registration has been established in recognized indigenous tribal areas for more than one year.
(6) Merit-Based Rewards: Students awarded housing privileges or rewards in accordance with relevant dormitory regulations.
Priority 2:
(1) Non-Metropolitan Area Residents: Students whose entire household registration and actual residence have been established outside of Taipei City and New Taipei City for more than one year.
(2) Continuing International and Overseas Chinese Students: International and Overseas Chinese students who do not qualify under the First Priority category.
(3) Varsity Athletes: Current members of official university sports representative teams.
Priority 3:Excluding Priority 1 and Priority 2.
Applications for winter housing and regular academic year housing are processed separately. Therefore, applying for winter housing does not guarantee that you will be allocated a bed for the regular academic year.
1. Current Room and Bed Principles:
In principle, students approved for winter housing will be permitted to remain in their current room and bed. For non-residents (students who did not reside in the dorms during the regular semester), bed spaces will be officially allocated by the housing coordinator.
2. Requirements for Non-Winter Residents:
Students who do not apply for winter housing must clear out their bed spaces and complete the official checkout procedures before the winter break begins.
Important Notice: No 100% Guarantee for Current Room Retention:
Please be advised that staying in your current room and bed cannot be 100% guaranteed. The university may close or adjust certain housing blocks due to necessary renovations, summer/winter camps, or energy-saving measures. Room allocations will be dynamically adjusted based on the overall planning at that time.
Therefore, the Student Housing Service Section cannot provide a 100% guarantee for current room retention. Please ensure you fully understand this policy before deciding whether to apply for winter housing.
Students who fail to pay their housing fees within the designated timeframe after their application has been approved and a bed space has been allocated will be deemed to have automatically withdrawn from housing. Furthermore, their housing priority rank for the upcoming academic year will be lowered by one tier (with the exception of newly admitted freshmen who have deferred their enrollment).
The refund policies for winter housing fees are as follows:
1. Cancellation Before the Official Move-In Date (Excluding the date itself):
Students who apply for housing cancellation before the announced move-in date will receive a full refund of the housing fee. However, the housing deposit will be forfeited (not refunded).
2. Cancellation On or After the Official Move-In Date (Including the date itself):
For applications submitted on or after the announced move-in date, the paid housing fee is non-refundable.
Exception for Graduation or Withdrawal: Students who must withdraw due to graduation, suspension (leave of absence), or university withdrawal (in accordance with Article 4, Paragraph 3 of the Student Dormitory Management Guidelines) will receive a 1/2 (50%) refund of the paid housing fee, provided they complete all checkout procedures within 20 days of the official move-in date.
1. Winter Room-Grouping Policy:
In principle, winter housing will be arranged to allow students to remain in their current room and bed as much as possible. Therefore, the room-grouping process is not available for the winter session.
2.Dorm/Room Transfers and Bed Swaps:
Each student is strictly limited to one application per academic year (including the winter session) for any dorm/room transfers or bed swaps.
If a student wins a placement in the winter housing lottery but later chooses to forfeit it, the vacated bed space will be allocated to students on the waitlist in accordance with waitlisting regulations.
1. Prior to the announced move-in date, the student dormitories are still occupied by current residents. We must wait for these residents to vacate the rooms and allow time for thorough room cleaning before new students can move in. Therefore, early move-in is not permitted.
2. Due to limited public space within the dormitories and strict fire safety and disaster prevention regulations, all common areas must be kept completely clear. Consequently, we are unable to accept or store students' luggage before the official move-in date. Please plan your luggage transportation and moving schedule accordingly.
Students whose official enrollment status is "Active" (In School) during the winter housing application period are eligible to apply. However, please be advised that in accordance with regulations, any student who has graduated, suspended their studies (leave of absence), been expelled/withdrawn from the university, or officially canceled their housing must complete all checkout procedures within the following mandatory timeframes (including weekends and holidays): • Domestic Students: Within 7 days after receiving the official approval notice. • Overseas Chinese and International Students: Within 14 days after receiving the official approval notice. Thank you.
In most cases, this occurs because students forgot to click "Save" or only filled out their basic profile information under the impression that they had completed the entire housing application.
Please be strongly reminded that any late applications will be demoted to the end of the 3rd priority rank. Therefore, students must log in to the Student Housing Application System before the deadline to verify whether their application has been fully and successfully completed.
